Human Development International (HDI) was established to create opportunities for small scale farmers in the semi arid regions by responding to critical issues affecting these farmers with emphasis to eastern Kenya (Kitui County).
With poor climatic conditions being the major contributor to the challenges faced in the region, HDI aims at reversing the traditional mindset in order to create income for rural subsistent farmers through embracing modern farming techniques and managing their farms both as a business and as a source a approach is based upon the VALUE CHAIN, taking into consideration all the activities linked to :
(a) The development and use of modern technologies in agricultural production
(b) Development of Poultry, Fruit Farming & Commodity production Projects
(c) Processing and marketing activities that add value to agricultural products
(d)Environmental Management through planting of trees
